Caring for the Caregiver
Most people working with any element of care does not really know what Compassion Fatigue is; but if you were asked:
- Do you wake up, felling like you have not been asleep?
- Do you get snappy or emotional more easily than before?
- Do you put your wants, needs and desires on a back burner; for the needs of others?
If you have answered yes, to one or all of these questions; then most certainly you are already affected by Compassion Fatigue. Feeling like you are running on empty, not motivated, not appreciated and as if the world depends on you. Then it is time for action.
It is not selfish or uncaring to care for yourself, in fact it is the best choice for you and the people around you.
